I hate my job. There, I said it.
My problem is I want a job where when I help somebody it feels like I’ve made a difference. If you don’t get your newspaper in the morning and I have somebody bring a copy out to you I haven’t really helped you. I’ve simply gotten you a copy of the newspaper.
What kind of work do you think you’d like to do?
That’s a good question and one I’ve asked myself a few times. The answer that comes back most often is I want to help kids trying to kick drug habits. I also want to be able to do counseling work for people dealing with depression (emphasis on bipolar).
I think that sounds like a wonderful thing to want to do. I know that some of the people that made the biggest impact in my life, was the few that helped me as a teen. I know there is programs out there that are always looking for counseling aids for out patient therapy. Maybe you could start by volunteering until you have some hours to use in your resume. Volunteering is a great way to help others.
By the way .. I was thinking of you the other day when I passed by the Buddhist Temple in our area. I keep wanting to drive up the curvy road to see it.
